Nandaihe and Beidaihe 南戴河和北戴河. They are two great places to stay, the former being the best but, are there problems? Last week a very strange thing happened; I opened an email from a guy called Jason asking me about the beaches in Nandaihe and if they were any good. Blow me down, the very next day I went to Beidaihe to teach at the B.I.T and I was stopped by a European (most likely German but I apologise if I'm wrong) who was having great difficulty finding a place to stay. I told him that his best bet was Nandaihe; Beidaihe do not like foreign people in the hotels when there are VIPs staying from Beijing.
I neglected to give him my number so, if you're reading this, I hope my advise was good and that everything worked out for you.
So, If you want to stay around here and would prefer to be based outside of Qinhuangdao, I suggest Nandaihe. You might also like to try the ‘School of Foreign Languages'; maybe they'll rent you a room. Take the 22 bus from Qinhuangdao and alight at the first stop in Nandaihe.
By the way, Nandaihe features in the banned Chinese film, 'Summer Palace' 颐和园 Worth watching and it's obvious why it was banned.. And it was not because of the sex scenes!
