Qinhuangdao Coffee Bar

'Strolling Down a Rainy Alley'.  What a strange name for a great coffee
/ music bar in Qinhuangdao.  As anyone who has ever lived in China will
know, never try to translate a name!

雨巷漫步

yǔ xiàng màn bù

This place is simply the best, whatever time of day or night, if you're looking to simply relax, take a break from shopping or looking for a cosy, romantic interlude with your girlfriend/mistress/secretary or even the wife!

They have an excellent choice of drinks and the coffee is all in bean form that they will grind and brew freshly for you.  The choice of coffees is also impressive and the cheapest (and best) anywhere I've found.  Blue Mountain is just 15yuan.

The ambience is inviting and the clientèle are of the friendly, quiet ilk.

The bar is on two floors; the ground floor having some open space and the upstairs has booths.

It doesn't look much from the outside but...

The owner and manager are extremely friendly people.  They don't speak any English but their Chinese is perfect, slow and clear - they're from Heilongjiang.  They will understand you so don't panic.  You could always tell them that 'Lao Zhong' sent you and they'll call me!

The bar blends in to the adjacent shops so keep your eyes open and is located on  民族路 mín zú lù heading north from the 24-hour MacDonalds.

Bus numbers 9, 18, 20 and 24 stop very close by.
