If you're a beer drinker, when you arrive in China you'll most likely be taken out to some posh hotel bar. Do not be put off by the extortionate bar prices. There is always bottles!
Bottled beer in China is easy to obtain; almost every shop in the country sells it. Furthermore, it's so cheap you can bathe in it. A 600ml bottle usually costs about 1.5元 but you'll have to pay a deposit on the bottle. Always return your bottles.
An important thing to watch out for is on the underside of the cap. If you see writing or pictures then keep the caps. They will earn you free bottles of beer. When you realise that there are freebies on offer, always make sure when you're in a restaurant that you see the cap from every bottle you buy. Sometimes you need a few caps to get one free bottle of beer, othertimes, it's one for one.
There are also prizes and prize draws or money offers.
The world's biggest selling beer is China's very own Snow Beer, or 雪花啤酒 xue hua pi jiu as I know it as. It comes in all the usual forms; Premium, Preimium Dry, blah, blah.
Believe me when I say that it's far superior the the better-known 青岛啤酒, Qingdao pi jiu or, in 'English', Tsingtao. Despite this being the most famous 'Chinese' beer throughout the world, a) it's German, b) it's rubbish and, c) it's expensive!
If you find youself in the North-east of China, always opt for the 哈尔滨啤酒 or Ha'erbin Beer.
I still think this is the best beer in China.
Happy bottled-beer drinking.
Cheers
